US Fixed Income

Aberdeen has been managing fixed income portfolios in the United States since June 1989. A consistent investment process coupled with a stable and highly experienced team has been fundamental in our success. Our product range encompasses four main strategies:

  • a well-established Core strategy which includes the management of traditional government, credit and aggregate portfolios
  • a Core Plus strategy targeting higher out performance
  • a tailored approach to providing Liability Driven Investment (LDI) solutions
  • and a low risk Short Duration strategy

We are able to provide both segregated and pooled offerings across this product range.

Core

We attempt to identify pricing inefficiencies of individual securities in the fixed income markets rather then relying on interest rate forecasts. We focus on high quality securities within the Corporate, Mortgage, Municipal and US Treasury and government sponsored agencies sectors. Average duration is within +/- 0.25 years of the benchmarks duration.

Core Plus

In addition to the Core strategies sectors, we look to add additional value by opportunistically investing in International, Emerging Markets and High Yield fixed income markets. Average duration is within +/- 0.50 years of the benchmarks duration.

LDI

This approach is designed to help pension funds do two things. The first is to better match their assets and their liabilities, while the second is to close potential funding deficits that may have resulted from historically poor market returns. Our extensive fixed income and derivative capability allows us to offer innovative, bespoke solutions to match a client’s liability profile.

Intermediate and Short Duration

Benchmarked against shorter duration indexes then the Core strategy, we utilize the same basic philosophy in seeking to identify pricing inefficiencies of individual securities in the fixed income market, no relying on interest rate forecasting. We focus on high quality securities within the same general sectors as our Core strategy and maintain an average duration within +/- 0.25 years of the benchmarks duration.
